Guild Contests and Projects:
Any member is welcome to participate in one of the on-going projects below. There are also links to projects that have been completed, for reference.
- Guild Sample Box
- The Guild needs samples of embellishment techniques for the sample box!
- This will enable us to achieve full guild status.
- The samples will be on display at Crown Events.
- Contact the Guild Minister for more information.
- Guild Device/Badge
- The guild needs proposals for the Guild device and badge!
- Draw up and submit your ideas at May Crown.
- Guild Symbol/Bauble
- We need ideas for the guild symbol or bauble (could include device/badge ideas as well
- This should be the symbol guild members wear to show they have acheived certain ranks in the challenges.
- Ideally the symbol or bauble should be something that can be embellished in many media, so that the guild member can show off their abilities in embellishment!
- 12th Night Challenge
- Challenge runs from 12th Night 2010 to 12th Night 2011.
- Make an item or series of items of your choice in any category (clothing, accessories, househould items, personal items, etc) using some form of SCA period embellishment.
- The form of embellishment should be mainly unfamiliar to the participant, so new research and learning will be needed to complete the scope of the project.
- The project should be of large enough scope that the research, practice and creation of the item will take a full year (e.g. a full-sized table carpet, a gown covered in embroidery, a hand carved wooden chest, etc).
- At the end of the challenge, those who complete their projects will receive a certificate of completion, and the project or photos of it will be displayed at 12th Night and in the Guild Newsletter.
- If you are doing this challenge, please let the Guild Mistress, or HL Aelianora know, so we can prepare accordling.
- This challenge will run next year as well, so start thinking about it now!
